Drenched in despair and dominated by an iron fist, the people of Zimbabwe have endured manipulation and neglect by a parasitic entity – the Zanu PF. This political party, branded with illegitimacy and marred by corruption, has clung to power through every means possible, even at the expense of human and property rights, and the sanctity of the country’s supreme law. The result? An incessant, gnawing crisis of food insecurity that the party deceitfully suggests it can rectify, while conveniently sidestepping its role as the architect of the catastrophe. It’s a twisted tale of irony and disillusionment where the villain audaciously poses as the hero.

The crisis-creating, the inauthentic Zanu PF is the designer of the current relentless food scarcity. Struck by a daunting threat to its illegitimate grip on power, the party resorted to an unthinkable move, one that today lays at the root of the food insecurity plaguing the nation. Astonishingly, the same disastrous, corrupt, and predatory Zanu PF that masterminded this calamity now dares to present itself as a credible and infallible solution.

What triggers the irony is the underlying cause that pushed the Zanu PF to significantly influence food security in the country and the subsequent decline of its food basket status. This concern remains unresolved and is like an enormous, grotesque elephant in the room – impossible to ignore yet resistant to any attempt at reasoned engagement or structural reform.

So, what does the Zanu PF propose as an antidote to the persistent food insecurity that has gripped the nation for decades? To the politically naive or uninformed, the party’s solution appears cleverly packaged. But upon closer inspection, it is clear that this package is just another ruse to absolve the Zanu PF from responsibility for creating the food insecurity crisis. The primary concern remains that the solution provided does not address the core issues that triggered the problematic conditions in the first place.

Driven by a fear of losing power and hence access to plundering, looting, and predation, the Zanu PF turned to populism and instigated chaotic and unconstitutional land grabs. The question arises: why was the Zanu PF so desperate to hold onto power illegally when it could be attained legitimately, as outlined by the supreme law of the land? The answer lies in the Zanu PF’s disregard for the popular will, a consequence of its relentless looting and predation, which caused it to overlook the welfare of the people, thus depriving them of essential services.

The Zanu PF’s actions have created an environment of food insecurity in Zimbabwe, while the party pretends to hold the key to the solution. It’s a macabre dance of irony and manipulation, where the true solution – accountability, structural reform, and democratic transition – remains elusive under the Zanu PF’s reign.
